Boeing Reports Six-Fold Increase In Employee Safety Concerns

Boeing 787 Dreamliner Dublin Airport

Boeing has reported a six-fold increase in employee submissions, raising concerns about product safety and quality in the first two months of 2024 compared to last year.

As noted in Boeing's annual safety report, this surge followed a January 5 incident in which a cabin panel on a new Alaska Airlines 737 MAX 9 jet blew out mid-air.

In February, an expert panel highlighted a "disconnect" between Boeing's senior management and employees regarding safety culture.

Boeing's Chief Aerospace Safety Officer, Mike Delaney, said: "Our actions are focused on making further improvements to ensure safety, compliance, and conformance of our products and services, without compromise."

The January incident has increased scrutiny on Boeing, leading US regulators to limit production of the 737 MAX jets until safety issues are addressed.
