**Summary**

The Computer Science Department offers BS, BA and BI degrees in Computer Science; BI degrees in Game Design and Development, and Cybersecurity; MS in Computer Science and ME in Cybersecurity; and PhD degrees in Computer Science and Cybersecurity.

POSITION SUMMARY

The person occupying this role facilitates museum experiences, engages guests, and develops activities and exhibits content at Discovery Place Science and Charlotte Museum of Nature. Experiences to be facilitated include camps, classes, home school programs, workshops, and activities in the museums. Additionally, this role develops units, classes, events, exhibits and curriculum for the museum as assigned.

Content Expertise : This role will serve as a content expert on computer science, including hardware (Arduino, Raspberry Pi, 3D printers, Hummingbirds, LEGO Spike,etc) coding, computational thinking and related disciplines.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Other duties may be assigned.

  • Facilitates experiences for children aged Pre-K to 8th grade in various topics utilizing museum displays to augment standard teaching methods
  • Adapts course content and complexity to ages and interests of students.
  • Interact with guests at Discovery Place Nature and at Discovery Place Science. Provides experiences that empower and inspire guests to engage actively with the relevant content.
  • Develop curriculum to include camps, classes, lab units, museum floor experiences, and other related projects.
  • Contribute to the design of exhibits or exhibitions for Discovery Place Science and Discovery Place Nature, including Science Buzz stations.
  • Contribute to the design of contracted projects, including the writing of curriculum for museums, school districts, film studios, etc.
  • Occasionally serve as a content expert supporting other facilitating staff.
  • Follow defined processes and procedures and elevate undocumented situations that arise.

    Job Title: Cable Install Technician

    Location: Onsite - South Bend, IN, US

    Duration: 6 Months (Contract)

    Pay Rate: $23.50/hr (W2)

    Our client is seeking a skilled and motivated Infrastructure Delivery Install Technician (Technical Support Tech I) to join their infrastructure operations team in New Carlisle, IN. This team is responsible for structured cabling, installation of servers and networking equipment, infrastructure inventory, and supporting project-based initiatives across the facility.

    Top 3 Must-Have Skills:

    1. Structured Cabling Installation & Troubleshooting ?- Hands-on experience installing, testing, and repairing copper and fiber optic cabling, including patch panels, patch cords, and cable routing according to industry standards.

    2. Hardware Installation & Data Center Equipment Handling ?- Proven ability to physically install and move servers, network devices, and racks in a data center environment, including racking, stacking, grounding, labeling, and quality control.

    3. Technical Communication & Ticketing Systems Proficiency ?- Skilled in using ticketing systems (e.g., Jira, ServiceNow) and communication platforms (e.g., Slack, email) to report status, document changes, and coordinate daily tasks with internal teams and vendors.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Install, inspect, and troubleshoot structured copper and fiber cabling in data center environments.

    • Perform physical installation of network and server racks, patch panels, and related devices.

    • Ensure all work aligns with standard installation practices and compliance requirements.

    • Coordinate daily material delivery, movement, and installation of enterprise IT equipment.

    • Maintain accurate inventory and documentation for all infrastructure components.

    • Utilize ticketing systems (e.g., Jira, ServiceNow) and internal communication tools (e.g., Slack, email) to track and report the status of tasks.

    • Partner with vendors to support infrastructure delivery needs.

    • Maintain a clean and organized workspace, emphasizing quality workmanship.

    • Participate in site walks, infrastructure inspections, and contribute to change execution plans.

    • Provide after-hours support and participate in on-call duties as needed.

    Qualifications:

    • High school diploma or GED required; technical certifications (e.g., CompTIA, BICSI) are a plus.

    • 1+ years of experience in IT support, infrastructure installation, cabling, or a related field.

    • Solid understanding of computer hardware, networking devices, switches, servers, and cable management best practices.

    • Comfortable working in physical, hands-on roles involving cable termination, racking, and equipment deployment.

    • Strong analytical and communication skills.

    • Ability to lift/move up to 40 pounds regularly; participate in group lifts for heavier items.

    • Willingness to work onsite and travel up to 50% within the regional area.

    • Ability to work safely at heights and on ladders, and to walk job sites with uneven terrain.

    • Availability to work shifts aligned to a 24/7 operational environment, including after-hours as needed.
